How do I use this tool?

It’s really quite easy. You register either for the free trial or for a fixed term and you will be provided with a link that you can share with your students. This link will give you and your students direct access to the Different Strokes online test. In addition, you will be provided an Authorization code that you and your students will need to enter in order to take the test.

You will be given all the information needed to view your students’ learning styles and will be given “prescriptions for instruction” which offers teaching tips to allow you to better relate to your student.

Is this going to slow me down?

Give me an example of how I can adapt my teaching strategies based on an Different Strokes profile.

For example, if the mode E (Empirical) stands out with a score of 80 points, then the lesson will normally work better if teaching strategies focus on repetition and a step-by-step approach. If mode R (Rational) shows the highest score, then the lesson would normally work better if training strategies focus on explaining the rational, mechanical structure of a swing, concentrating on the actual physics of the swing. Finally, if the mode N (Noetic) has the highest score, then the lesson will probably work better if training strategies focus on the "feeling" of the swing and on visualization techniques.
